As you read this blog, I must warn that you will find, honest thoughts, ambitions, and hopes from my mind.
This year, Centenary House has had to find different ways of fundraising to raise money for our end of year ball. So far, we have had a cake sale, made a house CD, and are rehearsing for our Christmas pantomime that we perform next Tuesday. Today, we held a Christmas Fete in the gym, with multiple different tables, which proved to be successful!
Three boys, with muscles that resembled those of Sonny Bill Williams, destroyed brave competitors at the arm wrestling booth, pride beaming from them as people left, clutching their arms in an agonising defeat.
Three more boys, brave yet stupid, offering their bodies to be waxed of both hair and dignity, tears streaming down their cheeks as crowds cheered next to them.
A crazy fortune teller in hippy clothing, who set up his tent home in the corner of the gym, his talents sold by a glamorous assistant.
Three different tables on guesswork: two beautiful ladies brandishing a jar of an unknown number of sweets, and another group with a lonely teddy, nameless and without a date of birth.
A table selling candy canes and CDs for those with a sweet tooth and an appreciation of music.
Three incredible cake lovers, whose cakes were a feast for the eyes, and a pleasure to eat too. Santas and snowmen made out of icing, lovingly laid on top of hundreds of delicious cupcakes.
Two gorgeous ladies working on amazing face paint, turning attendees into reindeers, snowmen or walking mistletoe.
A table of ordinary sweets and drinks, for the Scrooges among the attendees, and a Tombola of incredible prizes.
And my personal favourite: Santa’s Grotto! A wonderful boy volunteered to be a cheery Santa, taking photos with excited members of the school and presenting them with a present, aided by his two elves and me, a reindeer!
After an hour or so of hard work in a freezing cold hall, we called it a day, tidied up and left to count the money. Though I do not know the amount we raised as of yet, I have a feeling we made a sizeable profit, so it looks like all the Prince Charmings and Cinderellas SHALL go to the ball! Hurrah!
Well, my dear readers, are you celebrating the holiday festivity? Or are you more ‘Bah Humbug’ than ‘Merry Christmas’? Comment below! Much love to you all. Goodnight.
